About us
Our family farm, a Lough and Ireland’s first and only mirror houses
Andrew and Chloe met through their passion for Holstein dairy cows in 2014, married in 2022, and now have two children, Poppy and Freddie.
They moved back from England to Andrew’s family farm of Ballyginniff in 2024, along with their two dachshund cross Jack Russell dogs, Betty and Dottie — who you may well meet during your stay — as well as Eddie, the Jack Russell farm dog.
Andrew and Chloe love being outdoors and busy on the farm, particularly when it involves livestock. Lough Neagh Mirror Houses was set up on the farm to share what we like to call our slice of Northern Irish heaven.
Ballyginniff Farm has been in the Patterson family for four generations, going back to Andrew’s great-great uncle who purchased the farm in 1904. Until 2019 Ballyginniff was an active dairy farm milking 120 cows, farmed by Andrew’s father John, who we sadly lost to leukaemia in 2021.
The field the mirror houses stand in was once an apple orchard, and more recently grazing for the Ballyginniff herd.

A wee bit of history
How the Lough got here
An ancient myth would suggest that Lough Neagh was formed when Ireland’s legendary giant, Finn McCool, scooped up a chunk of earth and tossed it at his Scottish rival.
It didn’t make it to Scotland. It fell into the Irish Sea and formed the Isle of Man — and the crater left behind filled with water to become what we now know as Lough Neagh, the UK’s largest freshwater lake.
